Final Five – Let’s Go Keto

UPDATE JUNE 1: It didn’t work — I gained weight this past month and so I am not down to my final five. Stay tuned to future advancements.

I’m down to my last 5 pounds to lose in order to reach my centennial weight loss goal.  I’ve decided to take on a keto diet mindset and see where it takes me.

What is the keto diet all about?  According to Nourish by WebMD, “Ketogenic” is a term for a low-carb diet (like the Atkins diet). The idea is for you to get more calories from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. You cut back most on the carbs that are easy to digest, like sugar, soda, pastries, and white bread.  When you eat less than 50 grams of carbs a day, your body eventually runs out of fuel (blood sugar) it can use quickly. This typically takes 3 to 4 days. Then you’ll start to break down protein and fat for energy, which can make you lose weight. This is called ketosis.

Most will say this sort of diet is unsustainable; rather, it is a short-term diet to assist with losing a quick set of pounds.  It has been extremely difficult for me to lose weight as of late and so it only seems appropriate to give this diet a try to lose my final 5 pounds.

After reviewing the list of foods to eat, I am going to limit myself to keto-connected frozen meals and the following from OkayKeto.com:
